DAYNAME(date) returns the name of the weekday for date


The language used for the name is controlled by the value of the lc_time_names system variable.

mysql>
mysql> SELECT DAYNAME('1998-02-05');
+-----------------------+

+-----------------------+
| Thursday              |
+-----------------------+
