Finds the length of the initial segment matching mask. The line of code: <?php
will assign 2 to Parameters
Return ValuesReturns the length of the initial segment of str1 which consists entirely of characters in str2.

This function is significantly faster for checking illegal characters than the equivalent preg_match() method.
